Why Does Popcorn Pop!
Why Does Popcorn Pop?
By Logan
Do you like walking into the movies and smelling lovely buttery popcorn? Do you want to know how popcorn gets from the farm as corn all the way to popcorn at your house?
There are many types of corn but one type pops and it’s name is popcorn. But for it to pop the kernel has to have exactly 19 percent of water to work, if it has too much it wont work the same. When the water gets too hot it turns into steam and then the kernel bursts because the steam is trying to get out because the steam is getting too cramp so it bursts the kernel and lets the starch out making it into a nice little piece of popcorn.
With the kernel you need to have a certain amount of heat so that the water will turn into steam and burst the kernel so you need the heat to be 450 f so that the water can turn into steam to create a nice little morsel.
